Williamson became the first town in the state of NY to go 100% solar after SED developed, designed and installed a 1.5MW array at the town’s capped landfill. The project is projected to supply 100% of all municipal loads with solar energy. This was the largest project which SED has developed at its own expense and completed a structured financing. The project will be owned long term by Kenyon Energy and was built in partnership with Namaste Solar.

Support for this project came from New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s NY-Sun initiative, which is administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). NY-Sun is a $1 billion initiative to advance the scale-up of solar and move the state closer to having a sustainable, self-sufficient solar industry.
